Makk Art, a Family of World Renowned Artists

[stockie_text] Makk Art, a Family of World Renowned Artists The Makk family are world famous painters that have been gifting the world with their beautiful paintings for over seven decades. Americo Makk (1927-2015) was an internationally acclaimed master painter and recognized with many awards and honors including the American Ecclesiastic Award, the European Banner of the Arts, the Oscar d’Italia, the Alfred Nobel Medal for Peace from the Einstein International Academy Foundation, the Outstanding Achievement Award for Western Paintings from the American Biographical Institute and the Gold Medal from the Hungarian Prime Minister for his donation of 13 murals accurately depicting Hungarian history. [/stockie_text][stockie_text text_typo="font_size~18||weight~500" text_color="#ffffff"] With art exhibits in galleries and museums throughout the United States, France, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Monaco, Hungary, Brazil, Canada and Japan, Americo was even selected to paint a portrait of President Jimmy Carter in 1979 and President Ronald Reagan in 1984. [/stockie_text][stockie_text]   Eva Makk is just as talented and together with Americo painted large murals in sixteen cathedrals and churches on two continents. One of those murals is the largest single-themed ecclesiastical painting in the world stretching half a football field in length, or 28,800 square feet, on the ceiling of a 150 year old Cathedral in Manaus, Brazil. And their two murals housed at Queen of Peace in Aurora, Colorado are seen by more than 5,000 visitors each week. Also known by her portraits, Princess Kyoko Osano of Japan, President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan, and US Senator Daniel Akaka are among the many dignitaries who have selected Eva to create their portraits. But it is the emotion you can feel from her paintings that make you fall in love with Eva. Their time in Brazil where they were commissioned to go on deep expeditions into the Amazon rain forest to paint the indigenous tribal people earned them the titles: Official Artists of the Brazilian Government. As many of those tribes no longer exist, the paintings have become a rare historical documentation of elusive tribal life. Eva now resides in Hawaii with A.B. (Americo Bartholomew) Makk, her son, who has been exhibiting his paintings since the age of four by the insistence of his patron and first collector Don Jose Tupinamba de Frotas, a Bishop of Ceara, Brazil. AB has also been recognized with awards such as the Distinguished Americans Award for Excellence in Scenic Painting, the New York Graphic Society Recognition for Impressionistic Painting, and the Arpad Academy Gold Medal. Now Eva and A.B. enjoy supporting charities and non-profits such as the American Heart Association Hawai’I, the Cancer League of Colorado, Global Down Syndrome, Habilitat, Make-A-Wish Hawai’I, Hawaii Theatre Center, National Kidney Foundation of Hawaii, Queens Medical Center, Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, Veterinarians International and, of course, the Autism Today Foundation. If you didn’t catch Eva and A.B.’s paintings on Hawaii 5-0, then take a look at their gallery. Their beautiful artwork will also be available soon in the Autism Today Marketplace where they will be donating some of the proceeds of their art to the Autism Today Foundation where we hope to help budding new artists find their place in the world through our ARTS Network. To the Makk family, we can only say thanks for making the world such a beautiful place! [/stockie_text]

[/stockie_text]VIEW TRANSCRIPT[stockie_text] TRANSCRIPT Advanced Brain Technologies Episode 1: Mandy Doman Sat, May 28,2022 12:09AM • 21:38‍ SUMMARY KEYWORDS: music, sound, program, listening, therapists, support, clinicians, headphones, bone conduction, world, played, families, child, work, people, french horn, engaged, autism, dancing, practitioners‍ SPEAKERS Vincent Dela Luna, Karen Simmons, Mandy Doman Vincent Dela Luna  00:15 Welcome to Mandy Doman from Advanced Brain Technologies, who is using music and sound with bone conduction to help people with autism, and neurodiversity. Hi, Mandy. Welcome. Mandy Doman  00:30 Thank you. Vincent Dela Luna  00:30 Can you tell us a little bit about how you got involved with autism and neurodiversity? Mandy Doman  00:35 Ab solutely. Well, I’ve been in the field for about 20 years and working with practitioners. So a number of occupational therapists speech and language pathologist doctors. And so in the very beginning, we work directly with these clinicians and educators as well, to support what they’re doing, especially for children with special needs. And primarily autism. There’s a lot of research that has been done on how music can be used to calm center and connect a child with autism to the world around them. And we start to see that in their day to day interactions, ability to complete their therapies in a more meaningful way. And so in the very beginning, we just wanted to find a natural way to have the ability to help these kids in their home and supported by a clinician, and it was pretty pro found to see those impact, the impact that it could have on anything from their ability to start speaking to their ability to process the world around them. And you know, really, so that was how we began in the in the field. But before that, my husband is actually the founder of Advanced Brain Technologies. And he’s a third generation in a family of neuro developmentalists. So his family work, they made tremendous contributions to the understanding of child development, and what it looks like to have a child who is neurologically organized. And then the impact that sound and music can have on that individual’s performance day to day in their life. Karen Simmons  02:24 Wow. That’s amazing. It is really, really important. Music is plays such a big part in people’s lives that have autism. Vincent Dela Luna  02:36 Yeah, my, my daughter, as you know, I’ve got two kids on the spectrum. My daughter is 10 and a half nonspeaking. Kind of aggressive behaviorally with with everybody except me. But it’s because I communicate with almost purely with music. So all her instructions all getting her prepped for things, involves a song, a little sing along, and she knows the words to all the songs. And when we start doing it and if I if I’m too slow in a song, she started saying the words. So I know that music has an impact. And I know they’re connected. And it’s all I’ve also noticed how certain sounds calm her, and certain sounds within the same song trigger her. And she and she can get aggressive like I told you, we were just visiting the symphony on the weekend. And she would listen and all of a sudden you would see her just calm and relax and smiling. And then certain sounds in the orchestra when they ‘replayed would agitate her, you know? And then she started rocking and shaking and squeezing my arm. And then she’d calm down again depending on on the music being played. How did how did you use Advanced Brain Technologies to use sound and what what types of music and sound are used in the in your process? Mandy Doman

zPods – Episode 1 George Bailey

[stockie_text] The zPods Series Up to 90% of children with autism have a sensory processing disorder, which means that they are very sensitive to their surroundings. Many of these children find cozy nooks to hide out in when they become overly distraught. In fact, architects of autism-friendly environments often incorporate a nook into their design so that these children have an “escape space” in which to decompress. Though the relationship with sensory processing disorder is not fully understood, it makes sense that up to 80% of children with autism also have a chronic sleep disorder. Factors that help them to sleep better include lighting, white noise, and a removal of distractions from their sleep environment. zPods give these children a place of their own without distractions where they can feel safe while they sleep. [/stockie_text][stockie_text] ZPODS EPISODE 1: GEORGE BAILEY Sleep. Often taken for granted until it’s not available. Then it becomes the most important thing in the world. I should know. My daughter has a sleep disorder and can go months without sleeping at night. When you have two disabled children and one is up all night and the other is up all day and you add work on top of that, lack of sleep will slowly drive you bonkers. While sleep is vital to the development and growth of your children, as parents, we know that if they don’t sleep… we don’t sleep. So a child’s sleep helps not only the child, but more than likely, every person in the house hold as well. [/stockie_text] [stockie_text] It is because of this that we are excited to be interviewing George Bailey, who has created a sensory controlled space on top of a bed to try and help individuals experiencing sleep disorders. Constantly evolving, his zPods have a new made-in-the-USA version coming out this summer. They have turned out to be a calming personal space for many people already. Tune in to this episode as George gives us an insider’s look at the zPod and tells us what it’s about and how it helps. Keep checking in as zPods and the Autism Today Foundation partners with locations across North America where our viewers might be able to experience the beds themselves before purchasing it so that they can invest after they know it engages their child. And as a bonus, more and more local governments and insurance companies are financially supporting the purchase of zPods. We’ll keep updating our website as news of this develops. Stay tuned, stay happy and stay kind!
