Over-Exposed – Analyzing the DTAP Vaccines

by By Gus Tomelleri

I am a self-employed software programmer/mechanical engineer with an autistic son, and I have been working on a software program to sort and filter the VAERS data (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System). This database is available on line for free at http://www.vaers.org. I chose to analyze the DTAP vaccines because I suspected that these vaccines were responsible for my son’s autism. These DTAP vaccines are typically given 4 times within the first 15 months of a child’s life at 2, 4, 6 and 15 months. In some cases, all of a child’s DTAP vaccines could have contained Thimerosal, thereby contributing more mercury then all other vaccines combined. In my son’s case, I am certain that he received a total of75 micrograms of mercury from 3 DTAP inoculations at 2, 4 and 6 months, he got another 12.5 micrograms from a single HEPB vaccine at birth.

The EPA has a suggested mercury intake limit of .1 microgram per kilogram per day. When I plugged in the numbers for my son, I discovered that his DTAP vaccines over-exposed him to the EPA’s mercury limit by 41X, 31X, and 28X. In other cases a child could exceed this limit by over 200 times in a single day, and I know of a particular case where this happened to a set of severely autistic twins who had low birth weights.

EPA’s recommended methylmercury exposure limit is .1 microgram per kg per day (yes, one tenth!)

Notes:
1. Thimerosal is ethylmercury which might have an even higher neurotoxic effect than methylmercury. This is according to December 10, 2002 Congressional testimony by David S. Baskin, MD Professor of Neurosurgery Baylor College of Medicine.
2. EPA limit was based upon ingested methylmercury of which assumes a 95% absorption rate as opposed to 100% for an injection.

EPA methylmercury exposure limit taken from:
EPA-452/R-97-009
December 1997

As you can see from the chart below, the LEDERLE and CONNAUGHT LABS DTAP vaccines with Thimerosal show a much larger percentage of reported autistic symptoms then does the SMITHKLINE Thimerosal free DTAP.

The symptoms I searched for and listed are: AUTISM, MENTAL RETARDATION and SPEECH DISORDER. The SMITHKLINE DTAP never contained Thimerosal. The evidence in the year 2002 is especially stark, and this is for only the first 6 months of 2002 since VAERS has not yet released the last 6 months of 2002. No wonder LEDERLE discontinued their ACEL-IMUNE vaccine!

Explanation of the column headings.

column 1: year reported and maker of DTAP vaccine
column 2: #DTAP rep., the number of DTAP VAERS reports for that particular vaccine manufacturer during that year
column 3: sym of autism, number of times the symptom of autism appears for a particular DTAP manufacturer
column 4: sym of speech dis, number of times the symptom of speech disorder appears for a particular DTAP manufacturer
column 5: sym of mental retard, number of times the symptom of mental retardation appears for a particular DTAP manufacturer
column 6: thimerosal, did this brand of DTAP contain the mercury-based preservative Thimerosal
column 7: total, the total of autism, speech disorder, and mental retardation symptoms for a particular DTAP manufacturer
column 8: %, (column 7 divided by column 2) percentage of autistic-like symptoms for a particular DTAP manufacturer
column 9: x likely, number of times a Thimerosal containing DTAP VAERS report was more likely to have an autistic or autistic-like symptom associated with it

My son, who is now autistic, received 2 LEDERLE and 1 CONNAUGHT LABS Thimerosal containing DTAP vaccines. His 4th CONNAUGHT LABS DTAP was Thimerosal free.

Notes: CONNAUGHT LABS did not remove Thimerosal from Tripedia until March 14, 2001, the reason 2002 still shows a yes in the CONNAUGHT LABS/Thimerosal column is because some of the reports were a few years old and given when the CONNAUGHT LABS DTAP still contained Thimerosal.

Accel-Imune brand vaccines always contained Thimerosal until the product was discontinued by Lederle Labs on January 10, 2001.

I should note that VAERS reports can be filed by anyone and may include: doctors, nurses, lawyers, and parents. Also, the VAERS organization reports that less than 10% of actual adverse reactions are reported. For more information on the VAERS system go to: http://www.vaers.org

Here is a quote I received from father and son vaccine researchers Dr Mark and David Geier. This quote was sent to me after I had reached my own conclusions about the DTAP. Dr. Geier’s 2 reports will be published this summer in peer-reviewed medical/scientific journals.

“…incidence rate of neurodevelopmental disorders was elevated following thimerosal-containing DTaP vaccines in comparison to thimerosal-free DTaP vaccines. We even found a dose-response between increasing mercury doses from thimerosal-containing DTaP vaccines in comparison to thimerosal-free DTaP vaccines for neuorodevelopmental disorders.”

I would urge all parents of autistic children to review their child’s vaccine records. These records contain the vaccine types, lot numbers, date of vaccination and manufacturer. Your pediatrician is required to keep these records. I would also encourage parents, who think that vaccines caused their child’s autism, to file a petition with the vaccine court, start by going to the following link: http://www.uscfc.uscourts.gov/OSM/AutismDocket.htm
